Dr. David S. Dockery, Chancellor of Trinity International University and Professor of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, will preach and speak Sunday, November 24th at 10:00AM and 5:00PM.
The Sunday Night Theology talk will be on the inspiration, authority, and interpretation of Scripture. Is the Bible true or even reliable? If so, how can we know with certainty that the statements it makes are correct? Is the Jesus presented in the Gospels real? If so, how do we know? Can you trust your mind to the conclusions of Scripture, and moreover, if the Bible is so powerful, why is it largely abandoned by the very people who fight for its place in the life of the church? Many would affirm the Bible is inerrant (and inspired and infallible) but it is, in many ways, inert. The Bible, for all of the words people speak about it, is not known or read frequently. This talk will present an overview of the controversy over the nature of Scripture. What a Christian believes about everything turns on what he believes about the Bible.
