On Sunday, February 23rd, at 5 PM, renowned New Testament Scholar Dr. Thomas R. Schreiner will give a lecture entitled “Spiritual Gifts: What They Are and Why They Matter,” in which he will discuss the Biblical doctrine of spiritual gifts as revealed in the New Testament and as they appear in the Church today. What are the spiritual gifts? Do all Christians have them? Have the miraculous gifts ceased? In this talk, Dr. Schreiner will seek to answer these questions. He will share his personal experience related to spiritual gifts, but more importantly, he will unpack what the Bible has to say about them. In doing so, he will bring a spirit of humility and charity, reminding us that though spiritual gifts are important, we can have unity in Christ even where we disagree. Dr. Schreiner will also preach from Romans 12 in our Sunday morning service at 10 AM.

Dr. Schreiner serves as James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament Interpretation, Professor of Biblical Theology, and Associate Dean of the School of Theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He is also an elder at Clifton Baptist Church in Louisville. He holds a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Th.M. and M.Div. from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary. He is the author or editor of over a dozen books including Paul, Apostle of God’s Glory in Christ: A Pauline Theology and The King in His Beauty: A Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments, as well as numerous articles, and can be found on twitter here. He and his wife, Diane, live in Louisville. They have four adult children: Daniel, Patrick, John, and Anna.
